Honda Media Gathering 2010

Honda Malaysia recently organised a Media Gathering to pay thanks to all of its media partners. Naturally, Wheelersgate.com was invited to attend the glitzy event that was held at the newly opened G6 Club in MidValley Gardens. The gathering highlights Honda’s milestones in Malaysia and sales target for this year.

Honda has been truly experienced in organising swanky media events and with the media gathering, all of us attendees were greeted by beautiful usherers. Upon being ushered in to the club, a backdrop near the entrance that shows Honda’s milestones in Malaysia was used as a background for pictures of attendees to be snapped, just like how celebrities are when they attend some parties or events.

Mr. Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer marked the start of the evening's official programme with a warm opening address. For the welcoming speech, Mr. Toru Takahashi, CEO of Honda Malaysia gave thanks to us media partners for the support and touched upon Honda’s philosophy which is aptly named The Three Joys. They are Joy of Buying, Joy of Selling and Joy of Creating.

Mr. Takahashi also mentioned that as buyers’ sentiment improves gradually, Honda Malaysia estimated that the total industry volume (TIV) would reach 550,000 units this year, and the company’s annual target would be equivalent to 7.3% of the projected TIV or 40,000 in sales volume.

“2009 was a tough year for the automobile industry worldwide. In Malaysia, the total automobile market is reportedly shrunk by 2%. In spite of the economic contraction, Honda managed to close its book with 38,783 units of sales, which are equivalent to a 19% year-on-year growth. We also captured 7.2% of the TIV as compared to 5.9% in 2008, whereas in the Non-national Passenger Car segment, our pie has increased from 24.8% to 32.9%,” said Mr. Toru Takahashi.

Xandria Ooi, the emcee for the event, kept us all excited with the specially organised quizzes and games. As usual, Honda’s generosity is shown through gifts and prizes given out during the night.

The most eager moment for all could well be the lucky draws. The goodies were Ipod Nano, Garmin GPS and EEPC netbooks.

Other than the sumptuous buffet spread, we were feted to musical performance from our very own homegrown violinist, Dennis Lau which displayed some really well fusion music that blends musical instruments like electric violin, electric guitar and also Japanese taiko drum. In addition, musical songs were also belted out by a group of acapella singers that was surely entertaining too.
